Apocalypse MEOW

#TrashCatTuesday – Episode 9

“This is a song about the end of the world”

It’s a phrase we say kind of a lot in out live shows. If we do 3 or 4 in a row people tend to take notice. It gets a few chuckles. The truth is, we know a lot of songs that could fall into this category. Some are more specific to the end of a single persons world, while are others are full fledged apocalyptic battles between Japanese city workers and an army of pink robots.

This selection has a bit of both. We start off with a tune about what a pain in the ass it is to try and live in this time. And we move on to a more introspective apocalypse. The truth is, a lot of things can feel like the end of the world. Even that phrase “the world” can be fluid in it’s meaning. We know earth will survive long after we’re gone. So what is the end of the world? The death of the human race? The loss of a loved one? Our own individual demise?

These topics are far to deep for two middle aged dudes with nary a philosophy degree between us. But these song speak to us on some level. We hope you’ll enjoy them too.

  1. 21st Century Survival Blues – Frank Turner
  2. Beijing and the Bends – The Trash Cats
  3. Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots – The Flaming Lips
  4. I am Disappeared – Frank Turner
